| I have long
been interested in the use of natural energies to power my moving sculptures. This is why
many of the numerous works commissioned for public places have been created in the form of
wind-driven mobiles. While I was seeking alternative drive systems that utilise environmentally friendly forms of energy to power my relatively small mobiles, I received a timely invitation from the Festo company to take a closer look at the forces associated with the mechanical properties of air. Festo is known among specialists as a world leader in the field of pneumatics. Wherever air has to be regulated, controlled or used to produce mechanical motion, this enterprise is at the cutting edge. Following an exchange of ideas with executive management, I was entrusted with the task of presenting the concept of pneumatics in a manner consistent with my own ideas on the subject. |
